Bearing the State Seal on the back, with a beautiful rendition of Sutter's Mill and a man bent over, discovering gold, it was designed by Steven R. Lundberg. Mr. Lundberg  has been a professional artist, engineer and graphic designer since 1958. He attended college in California, majoring in Engineering Design, and is currently Chief Designer at Northwest Territorial Mint. His light touch and great feel for medallion beauty led to this minting of a true keepsake.
